Serensify

What is Serensify?

“I have eaten to sufficiency; my satiety has been serensified.” –Margaret Staples Craft, 1898-2002

It’s not at all clear where the word “to serensify” came from; there are many variations of the word and several pockets of people who use these variations, as far flung as the Appalachians, the Great Lakes, and parts of Ontario and Manitoba. It is very clear, however, what it means: to be full; to have eaten to satiety; to be satisfied after a meal. Historians and linguists have had a field day trying to figure out why it would have been used instead of simply stating “I am full,” and there are both reasons of etiquette and social grace as well as wordplay that lead to its use. My great-grandmother (quoted above) used it frequently, with a satisfied sigh, after family dinners.

SERENSIFY is dedicated to the love of cooking, eating, and food itself. The process is as much a delight as the product; the ingredients are things to celebrate as well as their final dish. I hope you find something to engage your senses and imagination, to introduce something new, and to connect you with something to love.
